Israel Iran Tension LIVE Updates: Israel and Iran continued to attack each other, for the seventh consecutive day on Thursday, with the Israeli military saying it has struck several parts of Iran, including Tehran. The military said at least two drones from Iran were also intercepted.

The developments came amid speculation over whether the US will join Israel's bombardment of Iranian nuclear sites. Asked about the US's plans, President Donald Trump told reporters on Wednesday: "I may do it, I may not do it." Senior US officials are preparing for the possibility of a strike on Iran in the coming days, according to a Bloomberg report, a sign that Washington is assembling the infrastructure to directly enter a conflict with Tehran.

On Tuesday, President Trump demanded Iran's "unconditional surrender" and warned it could easily assassinate its supreme leader, fueling fears of American intervention. Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, however, warned the US of "irreparable damage" if it engage in military action against Iran.

On June 13, Israel launched an unprecedented attack against its arch-foe it said was aimed at preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons - an ambition Tehran denies. Iran responded to the attack with missiles and drones. On Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel was "progressing step by step" towards eliminating threats posed by Iran's nuclear sites and ballistic missile arsenal.

Israel, which is not a party to the international Non-Proliferation Treaty, is the only country in the Middle East believed to have nuclear weapons. Israel does not deny or confirm that.

Israel Iran LIVE: Only US Can Engage Israel, Iran In Discussions, Greek PM Says

Only the United States has the clout to engage Israel and Iran in negotiations as the two countries continue to trade air attacks, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Wednesday.

"Europe alone does not have the necessary influence to bring the parties concerned to the (negotiation) table. Only the United States can do that. So I think it is up to the President of the United States to decide which path to take," Mitsotakis said in an interview on the sidelines of an energy conference in Athens.

Iran Says 'Main Target' Of Attack That Hit Israel Hospital Was Military Site

Iran said Thursday the main target of a missile attack that hit a hospital in southern Israel was an Israeli military and intelligence base, not the health facility.

A hospital in southern Israel and two towns near Tel Aviv were struck after a barrage of Iranian missiles, with Israeli rescuers reporting at least 47 people injured in Iran's latest attacks.

"The main target of the attack was the Israeli Army Command and Intelligence Base (IDF C4I) and the Army Intelligence Camp in Gav-Yam Technology Park, located in the vicinity of the Soroka Hospital," state news agency IRNA said.

Iran's Silent Allies: Baghdad To Beirut, Why Is No One Picking Up The Phone

For more than four decades, Iran has built an alliance of proxy forces across the Middle East, a self-styled "Axis of Resistance", to project power, repel US and Israeli influence, and insulate itself from direct confrontation. Now, as Tehran reels from unprecedented attacks by Israel on its soil, those very proxies seem conspicuously quiet.

Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Palestine, the Houthis in Yemen, and Iranian-backed Shiite militias in Iraq seem to be missing in action. Many are depleted, internally divided, and grappling with their own vulnerabilities. This begs the question: Is Iran, for the first time in decades, fighting alone?

Israel Iran LIVE: Almost 3,000 Australians Seek To Flee Israel-Iran Conflict

Australia has started evacuating almost 3,000 citizens caught up in the rapidly spiralling conflict between Israel and Iran, Foreign Minister Penny Wong said Thursday.

But rescue efforts had been hampered by missile barrages that made it "too risky" for civilian aircraft to land in either country, Wong said.

Some 1,500 Australians had registered to be evacuated from Iran, while more than 1,200 were seeking to get out of Israel, she said.

"There's no capacity for people to get civilian aircraft in, it is too risky, and the airspace is closed," Wong told national broadcaster ABC.
