Washington: President Barack Obama is turning his attention to the severe drought threatening California.

Obama was traveling to the Fresno area on Friday to draw attention to the state's worst dry spell in more than 100 years.

Later on Friday, in Southern California, Obama was to address key foreign policy issues during a meeting with Jordan's King Abdullah II at the Sunnylands estate in Rancho Mirage.

The White House did not explain why the meeting was taking place at the estate when Abdullah spent much of the week in Washington.

Obama was expected to spend Presidents Day weekend in Southern California.
