BS Yeddyurappa can be sworn-in as Karnataka Chief Minister, the Supreme Court observed during a rare post-midnight hearing on a petition by the Congress-Janata Dal Secular combine against Governor Vajubhai Vala invite to the BJP. The Congress, which had called Karnataka governor's invite "an encounter of the constitution", had argued that the BJP couldn't claim to have majority unless the BJP triggers defections.
