Kerala elections are often talked about in bipolar terms, as a fight between UDF vs the LDF, with the BJP being the third factor here. 

But the most important thing is at the centre of this fight are people's aspirations, people who expect a lot from the new government because Kerala may have the best social indicators, but it also wants not just private investment, it wants employment. 

As elections near, educated youngsters highlight underemployment and low wages, with many forced to look beyond the state for opportunities.
