Delhi High Court Questions CJP Protest: "You Are Not Gen Z", Asks Who Leaders Are

Is the Cockroach Janta Party's agitation really a Gen Z protest? Has the cause of the agitation changed? And do questions need to be asked about the methods used? These were among the questions raised by the Delhi High Court while hearing pleas by CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka challenging their judicial custody. Justice Subramonium Prasad questioned the leaders' ages, the nature of the protest and their association, observing that concerns over public order assume importance when there is apprehension of a breach of peace. The court asked them to withdraw their pleas and approach the Special Executive Magistrate, which they did. Both leaders were subsequently released. The court's observations have triggered a fresh debate over the protest's purpose, its leadership and the right to dissent.
