Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is set to visit Gangasagar to review last-minute preparations and hold meetings with senior administrative and police officials. With around 1.5 crore pilgrims expected during the Makar Sankranti period from January 10 to 18, elaborate security arrangements have been put in place. A mega control room has been established to monitor crowd movement, supported by over 1,200 CCTV cameras and 60-plus large screens tracking activity across the island, including the Kapil Muni Ashram area. Authorities say the focus is on ensuring smooth crowd management, safety, and uninterrupted movement for devotees arriving in large numbers.
