'Textile Industry Is Gone': Rahul Attacks Govt Over India-US Trade Policy

In the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi claimed that rising tariffs and trade policies are severely hurting India's textile industry. Referring to a recent visit to a factory in Gurugram, he said industry representatives told him they were "finished" due to tariff pressures.

He alleged that while the United States has reduced tariffs on Bangladesh to zero, Indian exports continue to face 18% duties, putting Indian textile manufacturers at a major disadvantage. Gandhi warned that if Bangladesh imports US cotton at zero duty, it would further weaken India's competitiveness, potentially devastating the domestic textile sector.
