Tamil Nadu News | John Britto Arrest Sparks Fresh DMK-TVK Face-Off In Tamil Nadu

A major Enforcement Directorate action in an alleged ₹250-crore drug smuggling and money laundering case has triggered a fresh political confrontation in Tamil Nadu. The ED recently arrested John Britto, identified as a key accused in a narcotics trafficking network allegedly linked to smuggling drugs to Sri Lanka through sea routes. Following the arrest, both the DMK and AIADMK have sought answers from the TVK, alleging links between Britto and a senior minister in the state government. The TVK has strongly rejected the allegations, accusing its political rivals of spreading misinformation and insisting there is no connection between the arrested accused and the minister in question. As the investigation continues, the controversy has evolved into a wider political battle over accountability, anti-drug enforcement and the use of allegations in Tamil Nadu's increasingly heated political landscape. NDTV's Vijay Gopal tracks the latest developments.
