Sivakarthikeyan's 'Parasakthi' Hits Theatres, Revisits 1960s Anti-Hindi Protests

It is a big release day for Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan as his much-awaited film Parasakthi has hit theatres across more than 500 screens in India and overseas. Set in the 1960s, the period drama explores the anti-Hindi imposition protests and the Dravidian movement's response in Tamil Nadu. The film, which is also backed by the government, arrives amid high expectations and strong audience interest, having earlier been tipped for a major box-office clash with Vijay's Jana Nayagan.
