The Election Commission of India is set to review poll preparedness in West Bengal ahead of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Deputy Election Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti and senior officials will meet all District Magistrates via video conference on October 8 to assess voter roll work, BLO appointments, and complaint handling. The team will also visit North 24 Parganas and East Medinipur for field reviews. The SIR process is likely to begin later this month, seen as a key step before the 2026 Assembly elections.
