Shillong Wrapped Under Massive Security Cover, Iconic Police Bazar Deserted With No Tourist

Prompt action should be taken against those involved in the violence that took place during a bike rally held by an influential student organisation in Shillong a day ago, the Meghalaya High Court said today, taking suo motu cognizance of the matter. An action taken report should be filed by August 24, the court said. To Shillong now, where the Centre has rushed additional security forces to help maintain peace following the August 19 violence, which erupted in the backdrop of a protest rally by the Khasi Students' Union (KSU).
