A working paper by the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister says that the share of minorities as a composite group has increased significantly in the period between 1951 and 2015. In particular, India has witnessed an increase in the shares of Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, and Sikh populations and a decline in the shares of Jain and Parsi populations.
