While the political winners of the just-concluded assembly elections are yet to be declared, one clear winner that has emerged is the Election Commission what with the remarkably peaceful and successful polls that were conducted across the five states. With an impressive voter turnout, the "high point of the elections", as Chief Election Commissioner SY Quraishi put it, the polls have reinforced the electorate's faith in democracy. Speaking to NDTV, Mr Quraishi said, "You can't love democracy and hate politicians."
