Sikkim Monitors 16 High-Risk Glacial Lakes, Offers GLOF Expertise To Nepal

Sikkim is closely monitoring 16 highly vulnerable glacial lakes amid growing concerns over glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs). The state has installed sensors, automated weather stations and early warning systems to track changes in water levels. With Nepal battling the aftermath of a devastating glacier-related disaster, Sikkim has offered to share its experience and expertise in managing GLOF risks.
