Salafism has been a concern around the world as a gateway into extremism. Here too in India, the government raised it as one of the factors behind the Kashmir unrest. In the course of a month-long investigation NDTV's Truth vs Hype traced the funds coming in from the Middle East into Islamic NGOs in India and found, at least on 5 occasions, funds being sent from donors in the Middle East that are on global terror watch lists.
