Students at some Karnataka schools were directed to remove their hijabs before entering the campus on Monday morning, in accordance with an interim High Court order that said educational institutions could re-open (after having been shut last week) but no religious clothing would be allowed. There are high stakes for the Congress and the BJP in the small state of Goa and now, with the Trinamool and AAP, it is now a multiparty contest. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today attacked the Congress and Rahul Gandhi over a 2014 incident in which, he said, his helicopter was held up in Punjab because "Yuvraj (prince)" was flying to Amritsar. India's stock markets plunged sharply today, extending the fall to the second straight session amid a global sell-off.
