NEET applications this year were at an all-time high. Nearly 20 lakh students applied for less than two lakh seats. This time, the number of female candidates was more than the male candidates. Even though the government data says that the number of medical seats increased by over 70% in the past eight years, the gap between candidates and seats remains particularly concerning.
