"Most MLAs Already Own Cars": Vijay Govt's MLA Scheme Questioned

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay's MLA benefits package has triggered a heated debate over government cars and public spending.

Critics argue that many MLAs already own vehicles declared in their election affidavits and question why they should receive another government car, along with ₹75,000 a month for fuel, driver and maintenance. They say financial assistance should instead be targeted at legislators who genuinely need it.

Supporters counter that not every MLA is financially well-off and that government vehicles can help legislators travel between Chennai and their constituencies and carry out their responsibilities.
