On a day when Barack Obama made his last speech as US President, warning of threats to democracy, US Assistant Secretary of State Nisha Biswal spoke to NDTV on Indo-US ties post Obama. "We have a convergence of ideas, of values and a convergence of goals and objectives of the world we want to see; that I think will continue to propel us to ever greater partnership," she said. Ms Biswal backed demonetisation, saying Modi Government's move has the potential to have a positive impact but a lot needs to be done to accompany the notes ban. On climate change, which Trump has called hoax in the past, she said, "Paris Agreement has come into force, so there is no backing away from that."
