Jharkhand Student Leader Clarifies Hunger Strike, Says Protest Will Continue
Jharkhand student leader Devendra Nath Mahto has said a delegation of protesters has submitted its names to the administration and is awaiting a meeting schedule. Clarifying reports about his fast, Mahto said his hunger strike remains in force and that consuming water does not end a hunger strike. He stressed that the objective of the protest is to "awaken the conscience of the government," not to endanger lives.
