Iran War: 4 Days On DC Bridge, Anti-War Protester Gives Thumbs Up

A man protesting the Iran war atop Washington, D.C.’s Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge gave a thumbs up on Tuesday morning (May 5), as he approached the fourth full day of his demonstration. Police patrolled the Anacostia River in boats beneath the 168-foot (51-meter) bridge and communicated with Guido Reichstadter via megaphone, but made no attempt to remove him from the structure. Earlier, he had posted on X that he intended to come down on Monday but appeared to change his decision as supporters gathered at the base of the bridge. On X, Reichstadter said he opposed the war in Iran, calling it a “criminal war of aggression,” and also expressed concerns about the spread of artificial intelligence.
