Indian Army Chief Rejects China's Shaksgam Valley Claim, Calls Any Activity 'Illegal'

India’s Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi has issued a firm warning over China’s claims and infrastructure activity in the Shaksgam Valley, calling any such actions illegal and unacceptable. The statement comes after China reiterated its territorial claim, dismissing India’s objections and defending projects linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. India has maintained that the 1963 China–Pakistan agreement involving the region is illegal and reserves the right to take necessary measures to safeguard its interests. Meanwhile, Congress leader T. S. Singh Deo has criticised the Centre, alleging a lack of transparency and failure to take the nation into confidence as tensions rise over the sensitive border issue.
