Independence Day 2025: Made-in-India Semiconductor Chips To Hit Market By Year-end, Says PM Modi

Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort, PM Narendra Modi made big announcement on Semiconductor chip production. PM announced that made-in-India semiconductor chips will be available in the market by the end of this year. This will mark a major milestone in India's technological journey, moving it forward in mission mode to develop a strong domestic semiconductor ecosystem. The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday approved four new semiconductor manufacturing projects. The four new semiconductor manufacturing projects will be set up with a total investment of Rs 4,600 crore under the India Semiconductor Mission. Out of the four projects that have been approved, two are in Odisha, one in Punjab, and one in Andhra Pradesh. Underlining the govt's push to make India self-reliant in semiconductor manufacturing, PM Modi on I-Day, emphasized the importance of critical minerals.
