I-T Department Freezes, Then De-Freezes Congress Account, Party Hits Back

Congress hit back after their bank accounts were frozen by the IT department and claimed that democracy has been frozen. Even though they were granted relief by the IT tribunal, they have to keep Rs 115 crore in their accounts. Party treasurer Ajay Maken claimed this meant they could not pay their bills and salaries, while the IT department said Rs 135 crore remains outstanding in tax owed to them and that the party has multiple accounts.
