A herd of 23 elephants entered Maharashtra's Gadchiroli division from Chhattisgarh on August 12-13. They caused two casualties and some property damage. "For the past 3-3.5 months, we've been monitoring them via thermal drone. Our objective is minimum human and property loss. We provide compensation to farmers for property loss within a week. Our teams are deployed to move the elephants back to the forest region, in case they enter villages farms," said Dhananjay Waybhase, Assistant Conservator of Forests on Wednesday.
