Greece Wildfires: 2 Dead, 9 Injured As Blazes Ravage Salamina Island

A fast-moving wildfire on Greece's Salamina island killed two people and injured nine others, while several homes were destroyed as strong winds fuelled the blaze. Around 500 beachgoers were evacuated by firefighting and coast guard vessels. As authorities investigated the cause of the Salamina fire, new wildfires broke out in other parts of Greece, including near Athens. An 80-year-old man was also arrested in Kavala on suspicion of arson.
