Greece Wildfire | Greece Battles Unrelenting Wildfires: Firefighters, Helicopters Fight Crete Blazes

Greek firefighters are continuing to work hard to control the wildfire that started on the island of Crete on Wednesday. The fire, which started near Ierapetra on the southeast coast of Crete on Wednesday, led to the evacuation of approximately 5,000 residents and tourists. More than 230 firefighters, 46 fire engines, and 10 helicopters were reportedly deployed to fight the fire. While strong winds at first fueled the rapid spread of the fire, their weakening helped to slow the advance of the flames.
