Residents of the Gaza Strip shared their hopes for the new year amid the catastrophic humanitarian situation, brutal winter and extensive flooding. Footage filmed on Tuesday shows Palestinians walking through the Al-Rimal commercial area in central Gaza City, which is coming back to life despite widespread destruction in the surrounding area. Palestinians said they hope to see the start of reconstruction, improvements in living conditions, and the return of children to school after two years out of education. "I hope there will be education for the children of Gaza and that schools reopen, because the children are now on the streets, displaced," said a resident.
