For nearly three years, the Karnataka Congress operated with two powerful centres of influence - Chief Minister Siddaramaiah as the party's dominant mass and OBC leader, and DK Shivakumar as the organisational strategist credited with reviving the Congress in the state. While Siddaramaiah retained strong support among legislators and remained the government's biggest public face, DK Shivakumar adopted a patient and calculated approach, avoiding open confrontation while strengthening his position with the Congress high command. The leadership transition ultimately became less about personalities and more about maintaining party unity and preventing internal damage ahead of future elections.
