Explosive New Note On Rafale: Did PMO Interfere In The Deal?
An explosive new note on the Rafale deal has created a fresh political controversy over whether the Prime Minister's Office interfered in negotiations in the Rafale jet deal. This morning, The Hindu newspaper published a Defence Ministry note dated Nov 24th 2015, in which the then Defence Secretary has said the PMO was also conducting "parallel negotiations" with the French side, which undermined the position of the Defence Ministry and the negotiating team. The then Defence Secretary, G Mohan Kumar, made this official notation in his own hand: "RM may pl. see. It is desirable that such discussions be avoided by the PMO as it undermines our negotiating position seriously."
