Europe's record-breaking heat wave would have been virtually impossible without human-caused climate change, according to a new World Weather Attribution study. Researchers found the extreme temperatures are now 200 times more likely than they were just two decades ago, with daytime highs exceeding 40°C across several countries. The study also warned that nearly half of 850 European cities have broken or are expected to break heat stress records, making this one of the region's most severe heat events ever recorded.
