Nepal Flood | Climate Crisis: Himalayan Glaciers Melting Fast, Global South Faces Rising Water Risk

The breaking of a glacier along the Nepal-China border has renewed concerns over the accelerating impact of climate change across the Himalayan region. Experts warn that rapidly melting glaciers could pose a serious water security challenge for countries including India. A new book, Navigating the Climate Crisis: Perspectives and Actions from the Global South for Adaptation and Mitigation, edited by researchers at Chintan Research Foundation, examines the climate challenges facing the Global South and possible solutions. Featuring 22 contributions from scholars, researchers and practitioners, the book focuses on climate adaptation, mitigation, energy transition, climate finance and disaster-resilient infrastructure. Speaking to NDTV, Dr Debajit Palit, Dr Akanksha Jain and Omkar Dhanke stressed the need to bring the Global South's perspective to the global climate debate, strengthen vulnerable communities and balance development needs with environmental concerns ahead of COP31.
