A day after videos of Assam Revenue Minister Keshab Mahanta's daughter, Dibisa Mahanta, joining the NEET paper leak protest in Guwahati went viral, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has broken his silence on the controversy. Defending his cabinet colleague, the Chief Minister urged people not to troll or target Keshab Mahanta for the actions of his adult daughter, saying that she is entitled to her own political views and "may not follow her father's ideology." Sarma said he personally disagreed with the slogans raised during the protest and added that he would speak to Dibisa when he meets her. However, he stressed that parents should not be held responsible for the political choices of their adult children. His remarks come after social media users targeted the minister following Dibisa Mahanta's participation in the student-led agitation over NEET paper leak.
