Amid public outrage over a proposed hike in Bengaluru Metro fares, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya has claimed that the Centre has temporarily halted the increase. According to him, the Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs has directed authorities to put the state government's proposal on hold following a phone conversation. The move comes less than a year after a near 100% fare hike that made the Bengaluru Metro the costliest in the country, raising concerns over affordability for middle-class commuters.
