Banu Mushtaq has become the first Kannada writer to win the coveted International Booker Prize on Tuesday in London, along with the 50,000-pound prize pool. She received the honour for her short story collection 'Heart Lamp'. The book was translated by Deepa Bhasthi from Kannada to English. Mushtaq described this as a collective win of diversity while receiving the award at Tate Modern, London. 'Heart Lamp' was amongst the six titles shortlisted by judges.
