Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor will make his electoral debut by contesting the Bankipur Assembly by-election in Patna, Bihar, scheduled for July 30. Announcing his candidature, Kishor called it "the beginning of a new kind of politics" in Bihar, asserting that Bankipur — a long-standing BJP stronghold represented by party president Nitin Nabin since 2010 — belongs to "the people of Bihar," not any single party. The seat fell vacant after Nabin was elected to the Rajya Sabha.
