"A Turnaround": Assam Chief Minister On Drastic Fall Of Crime Cases In State

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said the state has reported a drastic fall in crime cases, adding it is a "turnaround" moment for peace law and order. The number of cognisable offences in Assam fell by 48.26 per cent to nearly 69,000 cases in 2022, the latest report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) said. According to the report by the NCRB, which comes under the Home Ministry, Assam recorded a total of 68,937 crime cases last year, down from 1,33,239 in 2021.
