Assam marked Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday with the 'Ashirbad Diwa' programme, as people lit diyas at homes, temples and namghars across the state. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma prayed for PM Modi's long life and good health, saying the diyas symbolise prayers for his well-being. The Assam government has announced 11 programmes as part of a month-long commemoration of 25 years of PM Modi's public service, from September 17 to October 17. Sarma also highlighted the Prime Minister's support for Assam and the state's progress over the years.
