Its traditional wooden-inspired aesthetic, combined with modern upgrades, offers both locals and tourists a refreshing riverside escape along the Jhelum. Local stakeholders believe the footbridge will encourage economic activity in the area. With increased footfall, young entrepreneurs are expected to set up small food spots serving Kashmiri favourites like almond kehwa, adding to the lively atmosphere for visitors.

While inaugurating the bridge, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha described it as a symbol of Srinagar's blend of heritage and modern infrastructure under the Smart City initiative.
"This footbridge aims to create vibrant public spaces and reconnect Srinagar's historic core with modern urban life," he said, emphasising the government's commitment to preserving heritage while enhancing civic amenities.
