Youth Congress Workers Killed

A former legislator of the ruling Left has been named as an accused in a 2019 murder case in which two Youth Congress leaders were killed in Kerala's Kasaragod district.

The Crime Branch Thursday took over the investigation into the killing of two Youth Congress workers, as the total number of arrests in the case climbed to seven with five more people being arrested, police said.

A member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) committee from Kerala has been arrested in connection with the murder of two Youth Congress workers in Kasargod district, the police said.

Describing the murder of two Youth Congress workers in Kerala as "extremely unfortunate," chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said strict action will be taken against those found guilty.

Observing that there should be an impartial and independent investigation, the Kerala High Court Wednesday ordered a CBI probe into the recent killing of a Youth Congress functionary in Kannur district.
