The Supreme Court has dismissed a plea from telecom companies to reassess the dues they owe the government, resulting in a decline in the stock prices of Vodafone Idea and its counterparts. Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel are facing a combined debt of Rs. 1 lakh crore in outstanding dues, encompassing spectrum charges and licensing fees.

Bharti Airtel on Thursday said it has opted to defer the payment of AGR dues up to FY 2018-19, that are not tabulated in the Supreme Court's order, by up to four years.
