Uttar Pradesh Covid-19 Update

With the COVID-19 positivity rate and the number of daily infections on a downward curve in Uttar Pradesh, the state government today announced that it has decided to end the night curfew from today.

UP Covid Update Today: The state government also informed that the 67 districts have not reported any new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana were among states that reopened schools today even as Covid vaccination for children aged 12 and above is expected to begin in October.

The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday made a negative coronavirus report or vaccination certificate mandatory between Aug 1 and 15 for those entering the state from areas having more than three per cent weekly positivity rate.

India has recorded over 2.86 crore Covid cases so far, with 1.20 lakh new cases on Saturday, according to government data. After Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh have the highest number of infections.

With the increasing surge in COVID-19 cases, several state boards have announced the cancellation and, or postponement of Class 10, 12 exams. While some boards have decided to promote Class 10 students on the basis of internal assessments, states like Rajasthan, Gujarat, UP have only postponed them.

Counting of votes for Uttar Pradesh's panchayat elections, questioned by many for taking place in the middle of an unprecedented coronavirus crisis, began on Sunday morning alongside that for the closely watched polls in West Bengal and other states.

Meanwhile, amid an alarming rise in coronavirus cases, the Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday tightened existing restrictions in worst-hit districts, including extension of night curfew hours and deferring the state board exams till next month.
