As per the 11-month data, UTI MF has grown its AUM contribution from group company to 4.46 per cent at Rs 6,114 crore as of end February from 2.48 per cent at Rs 2,610 crore in March 2016.

Confident about a steady trend continuing in the Indian markets, UTI Mutual Fund has decided to go public and has sought approval of the government to launch an initial public offer (IPO).

"We are advising investors to invest in ultra-short term category along with short-term income funds. FMPs are also good at current levels," Fund Manager of UTI MF Sudhir Agrawal said.

The seven fund houses, including ICICI Prudential MF, Reliance MF and UTI MF, may again approach Maruti Suzuki India, and also its Japanese parent firm Suzuki Motor Corporation, over the proposed Gujarat project, sources said.

UTI MF Executive Vice-President and fund manager Swati Kulkarni said the Sensex will most likely move sideways in the current year, and will mostly be range bound.
