The Union Food Minister said the government will provide 1 kg of arhar dal at Rs 120 through the National Co-operative Consumers' Federation of India Ltd. that will use mobile trucks to ease the burden of the consistent high prices of pulses over the last many months. But for daily wage earners like Rati Devi, that's not really encouraging.

All States Except Tamil Nadu to Implement Food Law by March 2016: Ram Vilas Paswan

All states and Union Territories (UTs), barring Tamil Nadu, will implement the landmark National Food Security Act by March 2016, Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today said. Till now, 22 states and UTs have rolled out the law while 14 are in the process of doing so, he said.

Deficient Monsoon Won't Affect Food Supply: Union Food Minister Ramvilas Paswan

Allaying fears that deficient monsoon may have an adverse impact on food supply, Union Food Minister Ramvilas Paswan today said such a situation will not force people to starve as country has "sufficient" foodgrains stock that can last for at least one year.
