To improve quality of travelling in general class, Railways today rolled out its first modern unreserved coach 'Deen Dayalu' with facilities like potable drinking water, mobile charging points and bio-toilets among others to be used in mail and express trains.

After water trains for drought-ravaged Latur in Marathwada, Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu has now ordered that water from railway dams be released to tackle water crisis in Thane and Navi Mumbai.

Indian Railways will transport water to drought affected areas in the country, an official statement said here on Friday.

Nearly 1,000 railway stations across the country have been developed as 'Adarsh' stations having facilities such as toilets, drinking water, catering services and waiting rooms, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said today.

Railways will use water released from sewage treatment plants for non-potable purposes like washing trains and platforms.
