FTII Students' Association president Harishankar Nachimuthu said: "Gajendra Chauhan is coming, that is confirmed, but we have not got any official intimation. There will be protests obviously, but we have not decided other things. There will be some protest at the campus on Thursday"

As Gajendra Chauhan gets ready to take charge of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) on Thursday, its students are planning a protest at the campus in Pune.

Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar today questioned protests by FTII students at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), and said "students could not protest as a matter of right".

FTII sympathisers will hold a two-day alternative film festival in Panaji from November 24 to protest against the treatment meted out to the institute students at the 46th IFFI in Panaji, an FTII alumnus said today.

In separate incidents, Goa police today arrested an FTII student at the venue of the ongoing International Film Festival of India and detained a group of about hundred people who were protesting outside over the death of a local activist.

Hours before the inauguration of the 46th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Panaji today, Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar appealed to the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) students to not dampen the party by staging their protest at the festival inauguration venue.
