Stamping Baggage At Airport

Five more airports have done away with the practice of stamping and tagging passengers' hand baggages, a senior CISF official said today. With this, 42 airports in the country, out of the total 60 under the CISF security cover, are now tag-free.

Ten more airports in the country, including Pune and Ranchi, will soon do away with the practice of stamping domestic passengers' hand baggage tags, a new air travel regime that began at civil airports in April this year. A total of 17 airports are stamp-free in the country at present, with four airports joining the new protocol yesterday.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Thursday said that the security related procedure to stamp hand baggage tags has been done away with at six airports.

Six more airports in the country, including Patna and Chennai, will do away with the practice of tagging and stamping domestic passengers' hand baggage from tomorrow.

The hand baggage of passengers flying out of the country will continue to be stamped at all the seven airports where this practice will end tomorrow for domestic travellers, officials said today.

Airports at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin and Ahmedabad have been chosen for the new system to "upgrade" the security system for the convenience of passengers.
