The budget carrier SpiceJet said today that it will submit an offer with the resolution professional of Go First after due diligence to "create an airline in collaboration" with the bankrupt carrier.

Tata Sons has been selected as the winning bidder for the debt-laden state-run airline Air India, Bloomberg reported on Friday. A panel of ministers accepted a proposal from officials recommending the salt-to-software conglomerate ahead of an offer from Ajay Singh, promoter of India's airline operator Spicejet Ltd.

Budget carrier SpiceJet on Wednesday entered into a partnership with online travel platform EaseMyTrip to offer holiday bookings.

SpiceJet said today that its automated customer service and check-in facility is available on WhatsApp in addition to its website and mobile app.

Aviation regulator DGCA has asked SpiceJet to stop its five-day discounted sale of tickets that started on Monday as the government-imposed fare limits are in place since domestic flights resumed operation on May 25, senior officials said.

With the central government extending the lockdown to May 3 and subsequently the suspension of all commercial passenger services also till then, domestic airlines have again decided not to refund the customers in cash for their cancelled flights and instead offer them rescheduling of tickets for a later date without any additional fee.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) in 2015 ordered a probe into allegations of anti-competitive practices after similar fares were being offered on certain routes by IndiGo, SpiceJet, GoAir, state-run Air India and now-defunct Jet Airways.

Bookings are open on airline's official website- spicejet.com, mobile app and through online travel portals and travel agents, it said.

Additionally, the carrier also announced the on-boarding of Rajkot as its 54th destination on the domestic network with the introduction of a daily non-stop flight on the Mumbai-Rajkot route.

On bookings made through its portal, SpiceJet is offering a 25 per cent off on meals, seats and premium service SpiceMax.

Many airlines have announced additional flights and promotional schemes over the past few weeks.

Under SpiceJet's offer, which is valid for travel till September 25, 2019, flight tickets can be booked till August 10, the airline said.

Air India, which is surviving on Rs 30,000 croretaxpayer-funded bailout, has failed to maintain its market dominance as a slew of carriers including InterGlobe Aviation and SpiceJet started to offer ultra-cheap, on-time flights more than a decade ago.

SpiceJet and GoAir have announced flights on new routes and discounts on bookings. The announcements from the airlines come at a time when the suspension of flights by Jet Airways has led to additional demand in the country's civil aviation market.
