Sheikh Abdul Rashid Arrested

Supporters of independent lawmaker Sheikh Abdul Rashid were detained today as he led a march towards Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly to protest against the alleged "sabotaging" of the bill against beef ban.

Jammu and Kashmir Police has detained independent MLA Sheikh Abdul Rashid when he tried to take out a march to the civil secretariat in Srinagar against the proposed plan of setting up a separate townships for Kashmiri Pandit.

Ahead of the arrival of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Srinagar, independent MLA Sheikh Abdul Rashid was on Monday placed under house arrest when he along with his supporters defied prohibitory orders and tried to stage a dharna to protest the killing of three youths in the Machhil fake encounter.
