An Indian-origin man in Singapore has got 4 million Singaporean dollars ($2.9 million) in damages from his previous employer after a scathing reference letter by them cost him the chance to get a new job.

Justice Mukta Gupta granted the relief to Unitech Ltd's chairman Ramesh Chandra, and managing directors Ajay Chandra and Sanjay Chandra after their counsel assured the high court that they would appear before the trial court on the next date of hearing on October 26.

KSLTA had last hosted a Davis Cup tie in August 1985, when India met Sweden in the quarter-finals.
